Virginia City provides a wonderful legacy to the history of Montana.  Founded a year prior to the Montana Territory, Virginia City was the early epicenter for the social, political, and economic life of the territory.  It was not only the site of one of the largest discoveries of gold, but was site of the first territorial capital, Montana's first newspaper, first public school, and founding site for the Montana Historical Society and the Masonic Order.  This anthology chronicles some of the dramatic events, colorful personalities, and notable buildings which have been a part of the first 150 years of Virginia City.  A project of the Virginia City Preservation Alliance.
